Ecuadorian Banana Exports Show Continued Growth in 2025

Ecuador’s banana sector continues to show strong performance in 2025, with an increase of 10.84 million boxes exported between January and August compared to the same period in 2024. According to data from the Statistics Coordination Office of ACORBANEC, the country reached a total of 257.44 million boxes of 18.14 kg, representing a cumulative growth of 4.11%. This result reaffirms Ecuador’s position as a global leader in banana exports.

The main drivers of this growth have been key markets such as the European Union, Russia, the Middle East, and the United States. These regions collectively contributed over 7 percentage points to the overall export increase, with annual growth rates ranging from 7.5% to 14%. This commercial momentum reflects sustained demand in strategic destinations, helping to maintain the sector’s performance despite various external challenges.

While monthly growth has moderated slightly, the overall outlook for Ecuadorian bananas remains positive, supported by a solid commercial strategy and the industry's ability to adapt to changing market conditions. The resilience of Ecuador’s banana exports continues to be a key pillar of the country’s trade balance.
