Lemon exports to Chile grow in 2025
In January 2025, Ecuador achieved the opening of the Chilean market for the export of sutil and Tahiti lemons, following an agreement between the National Agency for Regulation, Control, and Sanitary Surveillance (Agrocalidad) and the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) of Chile. This agreement establishes the phytosanitary requirements necessary for the import of these Ecuadorian citrus fruits, allowing their entry into the Chilean market.
Peruvian lemon exports to Chile have also shown significant growth. In the first quarter of 2025, Peru exported 3,928 tons of lemons to Chile, representing an increase of 68% in volume and 75% in value compared to the same period in 2024. This growth positions Chile as the second most important destination for Peruvian lemons, after the United States.
In summary, both Ecuador and Peru have successfully established and expanded their lemon exports to the Chilean market in 2025, taking advantage of phytosanitary agreements and favorable conditions in citrus production and demand.
